چکیده
Increasing agricultural productivity is indispensable to meet future food demand. Crop improvement programs rely heavily on genetic diversity. The success of weeds in the ecosystem can be attributed diversity and plasticity. Weedy rice, a major weed has diverse morphology phenology, implying wide Study was conducted genotype weedy rice accessions (n = 54) previously phenotyped for herbicide tolerance allelopathic potential using 30 SSR markers. Cultivated (CL163, REX) (RONDO, PI312777, PI338047) were also included study. Nei’s among (0.45) found higher than cultivated (0.24) but less (0.56). relationship population structure based evaluated. Herbicide-tolerant susceptible formed distinct clusters dendrogram, indicating their variation, whereas no distinction observed between non-allelopathic accessions. accession B2, which reported have high allelopathy tolerance, genetically from other rice. Results study will help leverage as both are closely related, thus having low breeding barrier.

Analysis of Stress-Responsive Gene Expression in Cultivated and Weedy Rice Differing in Cold Stress Tolerance
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars show impairment of growth in response to environmental stresses such as cold at the early seedling stage. Locally adapted weedy rice is able to survive under adverse environmental conditions, and can emerge in fields from greater soil depth. Cold-tolerant weedy rice can be a good genetic source for developing cold-tolerant, weed-competitive rice cultivars. An in...

متن کاملA Built-In Mechanism to Mitigate the Spread of Insect-Resistance and Herbicide-Tolerance Transgenes into Weedy Rice Populations
BACKGROUND The major challenge of cultivating genetically modified (GM) rice (Oryza sativa) at the commercial scale is to prevent the spread of transgenes from GM cultivated rice to its coexisting weedy rice (O. sativa f. spontanea). The strategic development of GM rice with a built-in control mechanism can mitigate transgene spread in weedy rice populations. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS An...
متن کاملDescription and Analysis of Genetic Diversity among Squash Accessions
In this work, the part of the squash core collection, maintained in the Greek Gene Bank, was assessed using the morphological and molecular data. Sixteen incompletely classified accessions of the squash were characterized along with an evaluation of their resistance against two isolates of Fusarium oxysporum. A molecular analysis using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers was also pe...
